Merchant of Venice Questions

1. Antonio is depressed without knowing why? what two possible reasons do his friends suggest? Antonio is depressed because his ships are at sea and he is in love.
2.Do you think Gratiano's contributions help Antonio's mood?Nope because he still is worried about his ships
3. My first impression of Bassanio is that he doesn't have money
4. Is he in love? yes with Portia
5. why does he need to borrow money again? to impress Portia
6. How do Portia's first words compare with Antonio's? Portia and Antonio are almost like the same because they are both in love and worried.
7. The reason is that she has been stressed trying to pick a man.
8. Do you think Nerissa is a help to her? Nerissa is a help to her because she is helping Portia pick a man.
9. Sum up, in a word or a short phrase, Portia's attitude for her suitors so far. She is mean she was comparing people to animals and stuff.

Act 1 Scene 3

1. Shylock is a moneylender. Does he seem eager to do business with Bassanio? How do you know? Yes, he is because he will put interest so shylock is gonna get more money than he gave Bassanio.
2. Which does shylock think is safe, his business or Antonio's? Why?
